I'm back from a short hiatus. My girlfriend and I went a cruise and really loved it.
While working out on the cruise I had a moment of clarity and realized that exercise and life is about failure, not succeeding. The constant striving to do better, setting the bar high, and repeated efforts to try in spite of repeated failures. Until one achieves the goal, then not being satisfied setting the bar higher once again. The most successful people in the world are successful to due to their failures!
One then forges their character in these failures by choosing to try harder the next time and as a result strengthening the body and the mind making it easier to achieve success in a shorter amount of time.
So raise the bar, if you're goal is to run a mile change it next week to two miles. If you can't finish the two miles run a mile and half or whatever you can and try again the following day. Even in failing you succeed by doing more than you did last week. Good luck and push yourselves harder both physically and mentally!
